Off-season training is the key to improving as a cross country runner. The Winter Marathon Challenge, consisting of three separate training runs (one 10K and two 10 milers), is designed to encourage runners to train in the offseason and provide a goal to work towards. The Marathon Challenge will be open to the public (friends, family, etc…). Below are the dates of the Challenge (all runs will begin at the Okatibbee Dam spillway):
December 19th (9 AM): 10K (6.2 miles)
January 16th (8 AM): 10 miles
February 7 (8 AM): 10 miles
Each training run will consist of two laps. For those who would like something shorter we will have a Half Marathon Challenge (one 5K and two 5 milers). Those who complete all three training runs will receive a framed picture with the total ‘marathon’ time on the photo. We hope all of our XC runners take the challenge!
